Principal - Amy Turley
My life is dedicated to helping our children grow academically, emotionally, and socially. I want to have a positive impact on the lives of our city's youth and help them be successful adults. I am proud to be a Hobart High School graduate. I attended Purdue University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Masters in Administration and Supervision. I earned an Educational Specialist Degree and Superintendent's License from Indiana State University. I began my career in education teaching special education, 4th grade, and 5th grade. I served as the assistant principal at Joan Martin, the principal at the Early Learning Center at George Earle, and principal at Liberty Elementary.
I have four children and reside in Hobart with them. I love being a member of our community. I enjoy planting and caring for flowers, working in my yard, reading, and spending time with my family. My children are actively involved in youth and high school sports and I enjoy watching them compete. I believe that every child needs to have a sense of belonging and know the feeling of success and accomplishing their goals. As a principal, I am happy to help our youth experience these things in their school years.

Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I would become an educator. As educators, every day we serve provides us with opportunities to cultivate kindness, joy, gratitude, and a spirit of lifelong learning. As Maya Angelou once said, “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
After earning a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University Calumet in Spanish Education, I started my teaching career as a middle school and high school teacher at my alma mater. Despite loving my job, I couldn’t resist passing up the opportunity to become a Brickie a few years later. As a Spanish teacher, I introduced students to the customs, arts, social institutions, and language that comprise Spanish as a world language. Also, I coached several sports, sponsored many clubs, and remained committed to serving students in whatever ways I could do so.
As a lifelong learner, I decided to go back to school and earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana University Northwest. After securing my administrative license and teaching for another year, I joined the staff at Liberty Elementary.
It brings me much delight to serve the School City of Hobart as Dean of Students at Liberty Elementary. One of the greatest joys in life is being able to love what you do, whom you do it with, and why you do it! Our Brickies are my WHY! I take great pride in serving them alongside my amazing colleagues and the parents, guardians, community members, and stakeholders who remain committed to this mission!
Today is a great day to have a great day! The choice is ours. All my life, I want to be a Brickie. Work! Work! Work!
