Title I Definition
Title I is part of the Improving America's Schools Act of 1994, a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. It was reauthorized under No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 which has now been replaced by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in December of 2015.
Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Title I is a grant that allocates resources to schools with a certain percentage of economically disadvantaged students. The funds help bridge educational gaps and ensure that all children have the opportunity to meet high academic standards. Through targeted assistance and schoolwide programs, Title I funds are strategically utilized to create better educational experiences and foster student success.
