Brickie Kidz At Hobart High School
My name is Cheryl Cornett (Bunch) and I am proud to be the teacher at Brickie Kidz Preschool at the HHS location. I have been part of the Brickie Kidz program at the high school since the program’s inception in 2010. I started as the teaching assistant and assumed the role of the lead teacher in 2012. In addition, I am also the Early Childhood instructor for the Porter County Career Center located in Hobart High School, teaching juniors and seniors through our Brickie Kidz Preschool. I earned my undergraduate degree in P-3/with Mild Intervention from Saint Mary-Of-the-Woods College and in 2019 I received my master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
I truly believe that I have the best job in the district! Molding the minds of our very youngest Brickies is my passion while guiding high school students to their career path and helping them earn college credit. I have the opportunity to prepare preschoolers for kindergarten as I foster the development of the whole child - cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally. It is the absolute best of both worlds!
I have two daughters of my own, who are now adults with degrees in nursing and marketing….whew, where did the time go! I also am the mom to two crazy but sweet furbabies who keep me busy.
Sarah Cantu is a lifetime resident of Hobart. She received her bachelors degree in Elementary Education at Purdue Calumet. She is a mother of 7 children, which 5 have gone through the Brickie Kidz program. She began working at Brickie Kidz in 2016. Sarah Cantu loves her job and loves working with Cheryl Cornett, the preschoolers, and the high-school students.
Brickie Kidz at ELC
My name is Cortney Harris and I am the teacher for Brickie Kidz Preschool here at the ELC. Early Childhood has always been a passion of mine. I earned my degree in Early Childhood from Purdue University Calumet and started my career teaching preschool for Head Start in Porter County. After taking some time away from teaching to stay home with my own family, I landed back in the classroom teaching preschool for Brickie Kidz. My motto for teaching comes from Kid President "Make everybody feel like a Somebody". I look forward to partnering with you to make your child's first start to school, the best that it can be!
My name is Megan Ruckle. I have had the privilege of working alongside Mrs. Harris as her aide for the past year four years!
I am a Hobart resident and am happily married with three children.
I truly enjoy being around children and I love working at the Early Learning Center.
