Meet our Administrators
Principal - Mr. Brett Munden
Hello, My name is Brett Munden. I am the Principal at Joan Martin Elementary School. It is my honor and pleasure to serve the school community of Hobart.
I grew up in a small town outside of Bloomington, Indiana and am a graduate of Indiana University School of Education. I began my career as an English teacher. I also coached basketball, track and field, and cross country. I earned my masters degree in K-12 Administration and Supervision from Indiana State University and have been practicing as a building level administrator for the last 16 years. I have worked in a variety of school settings ranging from K-12, but I have come to realize that elementary education is my true calling.
I am married to my wife, Lindsay, who is a Nurse Practitioner and College Professor at Valparaiso University. We have four children, Drew, Gavin, Vaughn, and Piper. We also have a dog named Arlo. I enjoy exercising, running in particular, along with playing sports with my kids in the yard. As a family, we like to travel, have family game nights, and watch lots of movies and shows on TV.
I am so excited to lead Joan Martin Elementary School. My goal is to foster a safe and exciting learning environment for my students where they can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I look forward to partnering with our JM families to meet all of the needs of our young Brickies. Every Student, Every Day...Together, we will succeed!
