HHS Band Officers




Band
Officers are an integral part of our program at Hobart High School. Band
officers use their non-musical talents to help keep things running smoothly in
many areas of our music department. Band officers are elected by their peers in
October and work closely with the director to best serve the needs of fellow
band members throughout the school year. Required meetings are held once a month
after school.
PRESIDENT:
Duties:
Presides over council meetings (held once a month), coordinates activites of all
commitees and assigns and delegates tasks. This individual will need to commit
extra time outside of the school day to complete the responsibilities of this
position. A great amount of leadership skills, responsibility, maturity and
organization are required. Most important is an ability to get people to work
together for a common goal and a "just do it" kind of positive attitude.
VICE PRESIDENT:
Duties: Assists President in all duties he/she is assigned to do. Takes the
place of the President in his/her abscence. This individual needs to possess the
same leadership qualities as the President as well as an ability to work well
with others. This individual will need to commit extra time outside of the
school day to complete the responsibilities of this position.
TREASURER:
Duties:
Works closely with the Director and Band Boosters on fundraising activities.
This individual will also be responsible for selling reeds, valve oil, cork
grease, etc. before band to students who need to purchase these items. It is
very important that this individual be both organized, trustworthy, good in math
and with finances.
MUSIC LIBRARIAN(S):
Duties: This individual is reponsible for organizing and distributing music
to all students. Also responsible for the collection and maintenance, filing and
repair of current copies of music used by the band. This individual must be
organized, efficient, a "self-starter" and responsible. This individual will
need to commit extra time outside of the school day to complete the
responsibilities of this position.
BAND NEWSLETTER EDITOR AND WEB SITE MAINTAINER(S):
Duties: Compile data for, organize
and design a quarterly newsletter that will be sent home with students,
distributed at concerts and serve as a source of information for Hobart High
School Band students and their families. This individual must be experienced in
word processing and newsletter formatting as well as web site design. It is very
important that this individual be highly organized, mature, time and
detail-oriented. This individual will need to commit extra time outside of the
school day to complete the responsibilities of this position. This position
could be shared by two individuals.
