Purpose:
Distinguish proper conventions throughout sentences.

Materials:
-5 x 3 table drawn on chalkboard containing (periods, question marks, and
exclamation marks)
-sponge
-paper and pencil

A. Pre-Activity Discussion:
Review types of sentences.
|
B. Activity Body:
Teacher draws the table on the board. Students are placed into groups
of four or five. Each group is given one pencil and one sheet of paper.
Student with the paper and pencil writes first.
Teacher then calls one student to the front of the room and has them throw
a wet sponge at the board. The punctuation mark the student hits, then the
groups have to write that type of sentence. Each group has to work togehter
to earn a point. Teacher then calls all of the writers to the front of the room
after 1 minute. The teams with a correctly written sentence earn a point. Game continues until
board is cleared.

C. Close the Activity:
Team with most points wins.

Classroom Assessment:
Sentences that the groups wrote throughout the game.
